Historic Tallahassee – The Old City Cemetery, a Walk Back in Time

I’m a history buff, so between real estate appointments, I like to poke around some of the historic areas in Tallahassee. The Tallahassee Old City Cemetery is the oldest burial ground in the city, established in 1829by the Florida Territorial Legislature. There are 4 sections to the cemetery which hold the graves of Civil War soldiers, Confederate and Union, African-American leaders and church elders, yellow fever, and Florida Governors and political leaders.

There are a lot of historic areas in Tallahassee like the Lake Jackson Indian Mounds, the Myers Park and Cascade Park Area. It’s just fun to take a few minutes occasionally and think about all who were here before us.
