Chiles High School Symphony
Wow! Lawton Chiles High School orchestra Band,.. amazing. And a jewel, here at Florida State University, Andrew Ashburn, conductor. It’s not often I come across, while reading or researching something entirely unrelated, a post or piece on something or someone that catches my attention to the point I feel like I need to share it. This is one of those posts however. I have two daughters who graduated from Chiles High School,my own beautiful masterpieces, and I enjoy following the progress of growth and development at the school. Not often enough do we say thank you to those who teach, who take the grains of sand and turn them into masterpieces.
Andrew Ashburn, a senior at Lawton Chiles High School, then student, conducts the Chiles Chamber Orchestra at the 2010-2011 Florida Music Educator’s Association State Music Performance Assessment. He received a superior rating. Andrew Ashburn is a violinist and orchestral conductor who currently lives in Tallahassee, Florida. He began violin lessons at the age of three, and conducting training at the age of fifteen with former NY Philharmonic cover conductor Maestra Miriam Burns. Currently serving as an intern to Dr. Alexander Jimenez, of Florida State University. Though he only recently reached the age of 18, his repertoire and poise on the podium is far beyond his years.
